Welcome to "The Victorian Gas Lamp Shade Shop". At our shop we feature glass gas lamp shades. Gas lamps were used during the 1817s to early 1900s in homes prior to electricity. Sometimes the light fixtures were called Gaseliers. These light fixtures are gorgeous as well as the shades that go on them. Some companies restore old gas light fixtures while others reproduce them. Original shades for this gas fixtures are considered rare or hard to obtain. Some of the shades are now being reproduced.
Several years back, we were able to obtain, at an estate sale, quite a few of these beautiful gas shades for gas light fixtures. You may be looking to restore one of your gas fixtures or looking for a replace shade for one. These shades can also be used on oil lamps over the existing chimney, as was done in the mid to late 1800s. If we can not properly identify its approximate age, we list the shade as vintage though it may be fit the legal definition of an antique. Please note that these shades are breakable and so require shipping insurance.
This is a gorgeous Vintage Etched Greek Key Glass Gas Lamp Light Shade. It is frosted on the outside with a clear Greek Key etching. The inside is clear glass. It has 4" fitter opening. The flared end measures 7 1/4" in diameter and is 4 1/2" tall. There are small minor flea bites on both rims. Where the clear shows on the greek key design, there are etching flakes. This may have been part of the etching process. No chips or cracks other than the small flea bites. We do not know the date of this piece, though it may be Art Deco Period or earlier. Please choose a shipping method at checkout that includes insurance. This would look great on a gas wall bracket as well as an oil lamp.

These are a gorgeous Set of 2 Antique Victorian Paneled Frosted Scalloped Glass Gas Lamp Light Shades. These shades are very early shades. They are paneled with alternating panels of pressed clear diamond blocks with panels of frosted pressed floral motifs. In addition, the bottom edge is scalloped and every scallop in the middle of the frosted floral motif is further scalloped. You may click on the picture to see a close up of this shade. We could not find any mold marks but instead found that the top edge had been cut off from a piece of glass leading me to suspect that these are blown glass pressed shades. The interior of the shades are smooth while the outside of the shades are pressed. The fitter size is 4". The shades stand 4 1/4" tall and are 7" in diameter.
They have a lot of tiny air bubbles or seeds inside the glass. The shades are very heavy weighting 3 lbs 6 oz. without packaging material. We are unsure of the exact age of these shades. If you have any questions or want additional pictures, please call or email us.
